If you work for the State of California -- Psychiatric Technicians, Senior Psychiatric Technicians, Psychiatric Technician Assistants, Psychiatric Technician Instructors and other Bargaining Unit 18 members working in state hospitals, developmental centers and prisons automatically are fair-share-fee payers and receive CAPT representation assistance. But to become a full union member with additional benefits for just a few dollars more a month, you must sign a membership application card. These cards are available at your chapter office or by contacting CAPT.
If you do not work for the State of California -- CAPT not only is the elected union representative for state Bargaining Unit 18 employees; it also is the professional organization for all Psychiatric Technicians in California. There are no CAPT membership dues for those not working for the state; however, you can sign up to receive our Outreach magazine in the mail at no cost. Contact CAPT to get on our Outreach mailing list and to stay up-to-date on issues affecting our profession.
