If you are an active candidate – one who is facing competition at one of the chapters currently holding officer elections, you’re no doubt in the middle of campaigning at the chapter level.
When you declared, you should have received a letter from CAPT along with a copy of the union’s operating policy on the Chapter Election Procedures. Within the letter, CAPT listed some of the do’s and don’ts for running your campaign. For clarification, again here are the guidelines:
You cannot use any CAPT material, i.e. CAPT logo on your leaflets or post them on CAPT bulletin boards. CAPT office property, such as copy machines, paper, computer, etc., cannot be used to prepare campaign materials, unless the current chapter officers offer the same use to ALL candidates equally. If these office supplies / equipment are used, each candidate must pay a per copy fee payable to the Chapter.
Campaign material may be placed in break rooms on Units/Residences, may be distributed at the en- trance, or passed out on campus. But, make every effort to not disrupt work activities and remember to campaign only on your own time. And, remember, that per Article 12.13 (A) of our contract, no campaign material may be emailed via the state email system!
Ballots will be mailed out to chapter members by April 1 to the addresses CAPT has on file. Bal- lots received by May 15 will be counted on May 16 by the independent auditing firm of Mistretta Associates. While no one other than the ballot counters will have contact with the ballots after voters have mailed them and during the counting process, you, as a candidate have the right to have an observer present.
As the number of observers is limited due to space, we request that if you wish to provide an observer, that you contact Debi Loger by Wednesday, May 9 with the name of your observer.
REMINDERS:
If you hear of a member who has not received a ballot packet, or someone feels that they are missing a piece of information, please ask the member to contact us directly. Have them contact Debi Loger at (800) 677-2278 or email her at loger@psychtechs.net.
If at any time during the election process, you have a change of address or phone number, please inform us immediately. Please direct any concerns or additional questions to Debi.
Best of luck to everyone!
