Attention Porterville Chapter
DDS announces unit movements and AM shift start time, meet and confer in the works
CAPT received two notices from the Department of Developmental Services announcing unit movement at PDC and a change in the AM shift start time for Level of Care (LOC) Nursing Staff working in the Secure Treatment Program.
Effective Nov. 1, 2020, the current AM Shift, 0630-1500, will be adjusted to 0645-1515. The AM shift time change increases communication flow and allows more time for the important shift change exchange. The time change will not impact the PM or NOC shifts, nor will it affect your ability to exchange days off.
The unit movements are being made due to placement needs, the temporary legislative increase to the population cap in the Secure Treatment Program, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The unit movements will not impact current bid post assignments or approved staff vacation.
CAPT has requested a meet and confer to discuss these changes and their impact on our bargaining unit at PDC. If you have any questions or concerns that you would like addressed at that meeting, please contact PDC Chapter President Kara Johnson at 559-359-7857 or by email at kjohnsonspt@gmail.com with your input and concerns. CAPT will report our meet and confer results, so please keep in touch with your chapter for more information as these changes are conferred upon and implemented.
Below is a description of the unit movements provided by DDS.
PDC will note the correct unit assignment on future Post and Bid assignments for the following:
Effective immediately, the units with the Treatment Programs will change to:
Unit 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 55
Unit 16, 18, 51, 52, 53, 54 and 56
