National Psychiatric Technician Appreciation Day
Wednesday, August 4, 2021
CAPT expresses its deep appreciation and gratitude to every member of the Psychiatric Technician profession for having dedicated their life’s work, sharing their talent, skill, and heart of compassion, with those less fortunate than themselves. Psychiatric Technicians serve and provide specialized care to mentally disordered or developmentally disabled individuals. Nearly 6,000 of the more than 11,000 PTs licensed by the State of California are employed by the state, providing direct-level-of-care to prison inmates, state hospital patients, and developmentally disabled clients. PTs must meet and face extraordinary challenges and obstacles on the day-to-day, and when the pandemic stuck, PTs met that challenge, too. PTs work in settings where their heroic work and labor of love are concealed from public view and accolade. PTs are our unsung heroes. Today, we say THANK YOU!
