CAPT is strongly opposed to the Post and Bid fiasco taking place at several of our institutions due to the movement of inmates. Our Post and Bid process is suffering from the department’s instability. Your CAPT representatives are in the process of trying to schedule meetings for our Post and Bids and to get the final, updated Master Assignment Rosters (MARs). We are also awaiting confirmation as to how many positions will remain at each institution. Download flier.
Your CAPT representatives participated in two community forums last week on the future of the Sonoma Developmental Center. The first assembly, organized by State Senator Mike Mcguire, was held at SDC on Aug 13. At that assembly, the Department of Developmental Services gave a report and employees voiced their concerns regarding SDC’s proposed closure. The Aug. 20 town hall meeting held at Sonoma’s Altamira Middle School brought local, state and federal leaders together to provide an update and overview of the issues related to the transition plan and recommended closure process of SDC. A summary of both events is provided below. Download flier.
The CAPT will take part in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention annual “Out of Darkness” Community Walks. The walks that CAPT will be participating in are provided below. Download flier.
