CATASTROPHIC LEAVE DONATIONS
CAPT got the concept of Catastrophic Leave off the ground two decades ago. ...
October 23 marks the five-year anniversary of the death of Donna Gross: mother, grandmother and dedicated Napa State Hospital Psychiatric Technician.
The Safety Now Coalition of state-hospital employees invites you to join us as we remember Donna and recognize her living legacy of safety changes in our facilities.
We will lay flowers at the NSH entrance, share memories and recommit ourselves to work in Donna’s memory. State-hospital employees throughout California will show solidarity by wearing black that day in her honor.
Please join us at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23 as we call for Safety Now in our state facilities. Dowload flier.
Governor Jerry Brown has signed CAPT-supported legislation that would, among other things, merge the Vocational Nurses Fund with the Psychiatric Technician Fund within the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians, thereby stabilizing the fiscal solvency of the PT program reserve fund.
The bill, AB 179 by Assemblywoman Bonilla, is important for Psych Techs because it delays the onset of the projected PT program fund deficit and subsequent statutory amendments needed to increase PT licensing fees.
If you have any questions regarding AB 179 and how it protects the amount of our fees from being increased, contact your chapter office or CAPT consultant Coby Pizzotti at (800) 677-2278. Download flier.
CAPT wants to hear from you -- your ideas, concepts, problems and solutions. All legislation begins as an idea or concept: “There ought to be a law!” Ideas and concepts can come from a variety of sources, including professional organizations like CAPT. The law-making process begins when a senator or assembly member decides to author a bill, when the idea takes written form and is introduced to their house. The legislative process is a long and winding road, but traveling it can make a difference for ourselves and the Californians we care for.
If you have a great idea that you would like considered in CAPT’s upcoming legislative agenda, contact your local chapter office or CAPT Consultant Coby Pizzotti by Dec. 1 at (800) 677-2278 or email@example.com.
