My name is Juan Nolasco, and I’m honored to serve as state president of CAPT.
California’s Psychiatric Technicians are the nation’s "gold standard" in direct-care mental health and developmental services: Our college-level, state-mandated training includes nursing, pharmacology, medical procedures, mental illnesses, developmental disabilities and much more. When we complete Psych Tech school, we are officially tested, licensed and regulated by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians – a professional requirement in our state since 1970.
I became a Psych Tech because I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives – that’s what Psych Techs are pledged and proud to do especially for Californians with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. We at CAPT are also proud to advocate on the local, state and national levels for our profession, our services and those who depend on us.
I’m happy to help spread the word about our unique profession and how proud we truly are to make a difference in the lives of Californians. I hope you join me in our efforts.
