If you work for the State of California -- Psychiatric Technicians, Senior Psychiatric Technicians, Psychiatric Technician Assistants, Psychiatric Technician Instructors and other Bargaining Unit 18 members working in state hospitals, developmental centers and prisons automatically recieve contract representation and assistance. But to become a full union member with additional benefits, you must sign a membership application card. These cards are available at your chapter office or by contacting CAPT.
If you do not work for the State of California -- CAPT not only is the elected union representative for state Bargaining Unit 18 employees; it also is the professional organization for all Psychiatric Technicians in California. There are no CAPT membership dues for those not working for the state; however, you can sign up to receive our Outreach magazine in the mail at no cost. Contact CAPT to get on our Outreach mailing list and to stay up-to-date on issues affecting our profession.
